KEFWA beneficiary Kuol grateful for off season training

Wazito’s new signing John Kuol says training with Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (Kefwa) non-contracted players’ team helped him remain in good shape and match-fit and was largely the reason he walked into Wazito’s starting team against KCB.The Lank South-Sudanese defender was acquired by Wazito on the final day of the transfer window and days later he made his starting debut against the Bankers, a match Wazito went on to lose 2-0 courtesy of a Derrick Otanga double.Kuol was training with the Kefwa team after he parted ways with Kariobangi Sharks at the end of last season. The team of non-contracted players was formed during the off-season window to help these players remain fit and be ready for their next moves. The team played friendly matches against sides like Talanta, Tusker FC, City Stars, Wazito among others as the players got the much-needed minutes under their belt. The first phase of our non-contracted Players has been wonderful, and here is what a former member of this team, John Kuol, who recently signed a professional contract at @wazitofc , had to say; #KefwaNonContractedPlayers@FIFProAfrica @FIFPRO pic.twitter.com/mXz4kuNqxR— KEFWA (@kefwaofficial) November 26, 2021 One of the program’s beneficiaries, Kuol says training with the team played a part in him walking into Wazito’s starting team.“It has been a smooth journey for me because I was training with the Kefwa team and it helped me remain fit so it was easy for me because the time got a club (Wazito), I was fit and ready to play, and right now I just want to work hard to meet the expectations of the club through better performance, focusing on games to be won and cups to be won,” he told Kefwa media. The South Sudan international went on to urge more unattached players to join Kefwa’s team.“I would advise players who are currently unattached to join Kefwa non-contracted players team to keep fit and there is also the exposure that you get through the team by playing good friendly matches with other clubs which they cannot get out there. I am sure when they join the team they will get playtime, and good training which will come in handy when they get new clubs, “he added.
