Okumu records victory as Nondi tastes defeat with Dila Gori

Harambee Stars international Joseph Okumu played for full minutes of the game as his KAA Gent side recorded a home win against Standard Liege in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday night. While Okumu basked in his team’s winning ways, the same could not be said for his national team compatriot Amos Nondi who tasted defeat with his Dila Gori side in the Georgian League. The vistors however managed a consolation goal through Aron Donnum in the 68th minute. With the win, Gent sit in seventh on 24 points, ten behind leading Royale union SG.

Amos NondiDespite featuring for the full minutes, Nondi could not come up with any means to prevent his side from going down 1-3 against Telavi in a Georgian top tier league match.Of the four goals scored, a funny theme was formed as three of them were own goals. Telavi took the lead on the 34th minute after Andro Nemsadze struck into his own net. Four minutes later, Lasha Shergelashvili slotted into his own net to then restore parity for Gori.Eighteen minutes to time, Davit Maisashvili gifted Telavi an easy lead once again after he became the latest own goal scorer. Imeda Ashortia sealed the match for Telavi as he struck the team’s third goal with three minutes left on the clock.Elsewhere, Abud Omar featured as his AEL Larissa side drew 1-1 against Iraklis 1908 in the Greek Super League 2. Daniel Anyembe missed action through injury for his Viborg side who also recorded a 1-1 draw against Sonderjyske in the Danish SuperLiga.
