Nairobi City Stars defender Kevin ‘Chumsy’ Okumu is looking forward to the resumption of the country’s top league which was halted after the Government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Sport disbanded the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and appointed a Caretaker Committee. If the league resumes this weekend as is the plan of the FKF Caretaker Committee, City Stars will take on Kariobangi Sharks and Chumsy just can’t wait to kick a ball again in an official match. “We have missed playing competitive football and we are definitely delighted to be able to play again. Sharks is a good team and against them we expect them a tough but a tough game. The target is to get maximum points in the game and we are going to push and give our best in that game which is to get a reward,” he told Mozzart Sport. On match-preparedness, Okumu says they have been training well and playing friendly matches and he believes that they are in good shape and ready for league action.”I think we are in good shape because we have been preparing normally in training, the sessions have been good and we feel good and match-ready. We have also been playing friendly matches to ensure that we remain focused and ready when called upon to play,” he added.| Congratulations @NrbCityStarsClub of the week for Matchday 6#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/CclAAo3CZw— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) November 24, 2021 On his personal targets, the marauding right-back says he wants to add goals and assists to his defensive duties.”My first role is to defend hut as a full back I want to help the team going forward through giving assists to the strikers and also scoring goals.
