Kenya National Amputee Football Team has advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2021 Cup of African Nations for Amputees Football (CANAF) despite losing 3-0 to Africa and World Champions Angola in their second and last group match at the competition earlier today. Kenya drubbed Zanzibar 5-0 on Monday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania courtesy of goals from Nicholas Keiyo, Albert Mwakenga, Muhammed Munga, Daniel Safari, and Eugene Maghangha to confirm their slot in the last eight.Tuesday’s match between Kenya and Angola was aimed at finding the group winner, with Angola being a little too much for the Kenyans to top the group on nine points and a huge goal difference with Kenya taking the second spot on six points while Zanzibar take the third spot with only points from the walkover.Kenya, Zanzibar, world champions Angola, and regional champions Rwanda were pooled together in Group B but the latter did not turn up in Tanzania thus every other team in the group was awarded a walkover. The tournament doubles up as qualifiers for the 2022 Amputee Football World Cup to be held in Turkey, with the semi-finalists earning a ticket to the global competition in which Kenya will be seeking to make their third appearance having featured in 2014 and 2019.Hosts Tanzania and Morocco have also booked a slot in the quarterfinal following their exploits against Sierra Leone and Uganda in Group A.Kenya’s TeamCoach: Emmanuel KaraniGoalkeepers: Manuel Tyras, Vincent MutaiDefenders: Peter Nzioka, Joash Bariti, Nicholus Keiyo, Ignatius Khayumbi, Eugine BatuMidfielders: Dalmas Otieno, Albert Mwakenga, Brian OrokaStrikers: Samuel Kariuk, Daniel Safari, Mohammed Munga
