Muguna starts in Azam’s victory over Mtibwa

Kenyan international Kenneth Muguna returned to the starting lineup as Azam FC claimed three vital points in the 1-0 win over Mtibwa Sugar in the Tanzanian Premier League. The former Gor Mahia midfielder started from the bench in the 2-1 loss to Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) after featuring in both games for Harambee Stars during the international break.Prior to the victory, Azam posted a tough start to the season by their lofty standards as they languished in mid-table following three losses and a draw in their opening six matches. The game saw little goalmouth action in the first half as both teams went into the break locked on a barren draw.Former Nkana FC forward Idris Mbombo sprung the game to life seven minutes after the resumption of the second half as he broke the deadlock.Mbombo leapt highest to nod in Bruce Kangwa’s inch-perfect cross from the left channel as he pulled a finger in ear celebration that was aimed at his doubters.Azam held on to the lead to collect a massive three points that sees them scale up the log to sixth on ten points, nine adrift of log leaders Young Africans (Yanga).
