Frustrated Wanjala keen on leaving Tusker in mid-season transfer window

Forgotten Tusker goalkeeper Michael Wanjala is mulling at leaving the club on loan or on permanent basis in the mid-season transfer in bid to quench his thirst for playing time. The custodian has sunk deeper on the pecking order this season following the arrival of Harambee Stars goalkeeper Brian Bwire and the experienced Patrick Matasi who have been enjoyed the lion share of playing time.Further, the presence of Rwandese international Emery Mvuyekure who was the first choice in the past term has made the puzzle complicated for the former Bungoma Superstars shot stopper.🏹| The Flying Luke Namanda.✅The assist from the Keeper Michael Wanjala🔥 Cc: @posta_rangers vs @tusker_fc #BKPL pic.twitter.com/zpL4FKsz3Y— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) May 4, 2021 Coach Robert Matano has been preferring the youthful Bwire who joined the club before the season began from Kariobangi Sharks in between the sticks with the three other goalkeepers sitting on the bench.Wanjala who contributed largely to last season’s league triumph says it is difficult for his game to scale to the next level when on the bench and will seek to amicably cut ties with the club and find a new home.Wanjala calls on top flight clubs to consider players in the lower leagues“It is frustrating when you train as hard as you can but you’re not getting the opportunity to play. You cannot authoritatively conclude that you’re improving when you are not playing competitive matches. I have made my stance known to the management and I am hoping that we will part ways in the best cordial way possible,” he opened up.Wanjala nearly ditched the club in the last window as the trio of Kariobangi Sharks, Posta Rangers and AFC Leopards were hot on his heels but was spared by the purge that swept more than ten players.🧤|Michael WanjalaThe reaction 🔥@VihigaUnitedFC vs @tusker_fc #BKPL pic.twitter.com/iIRaUpt1lW— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) June 5, 2021 He says his decision to leave Tusker is purely meant to give him more exposure even as he seeks to follow the footsteps on the other three Tusker glove men who have all represented their respective national teams.“My competitors have tasted national team duties simply because they were given the chance to play at club level. Last season, I made my top flight debut and I can only get better if I garner more minutes in the current campaign,” he added.
