As expected – a great game of football in north west Germany. Two best Bundesliga teams met and delivered. Bayern Munchen had the upper foot, reigning champions had more of the match but Borussia Dortmund did not want to lay down their weapons easily. Even so mistakes made by a player which represented both clubs was the decisive factor.Straight away it could be seen that the players came out on the pitch with intensity – the body language, the running – it all suggested we were in for a treat. It did not take long for both teams to score. The hosts took the lead in the 5th minute – superb work from Jude Bellingham, who played a vital role in the build-up. He squared it to Julian Brandt sent the ball behind Manuel Neuer with a brilliant shot into the right side of the net.Only four minutes later – Matts Hummels made a mistake while trying to clear the danger close to his own box but eventually gave the ball away to Bayern’s attackers. As per usual Robert Lewandowski was at the right place at the right time and cool as you like scored past Gregor Kobel.Compared to the opening ten minutes, the tempo died down a bit but it was far from dull. Both teams created few promising chances with the visitors being a tad dominant. In the 26th minute, a pass into the box found Kingsley Coman unmarked. He carefully placed a shot towards the roof of the net, but a brilliant last-ditch save by Kobel denied him.Three minutes after Borussia’s talisman Erling Haaland lacked options so he decided to go solo. It was a fine run and good shot from inside the box, but it went a whisker past the right post. With teams constantly running and covering space, trying to create a goal opportunity it was no surprise another slower portion of the came.It was just before the half-time whistle when the scoreboard changed again. It was the guests who were in front from that point – Coman picked up the ball inside the box, found himself in a good position and fired in a shot which quite luckily deflected past Kobel. The teams went on their half time break and pretty much as soon as they stepped onto the pitch, equaliser came. Haaland collected a pass from Bellingham and quickly sent it into the right side of the goal via the post – Neuer was helpless. In the 57th minute, Coman almost scored his second. The Frenchman found himself one-on-one with Kobel, fired a low shot towards the right side of the net, but the Swiss goalkeeper leapt like a salmon to deny the shot. There were unfortunately some negatives during the match such as Julian Brandt’s head injury in the 66th minute and Lucas Hernandez’s bizarre ankle twist in the 71st minute. Then came 77th minute and Hummels again. He handled the ball inside his own box, referee Felix Zwayer got a signal in his ear and after consulting with VAR – the Bavarians got their penalty.Lewa took the ball and scored from the spot, with Kobel almost denying it.To make things worse for the Millionaires, manager Marco Rose received his second yellow card and had to relocate to the stands.Dortmund needed to shake things up a bit – in the 85th minute, Bellingham made a terrific run to get on the end of the free kick but powered a header just over the bar from close in. Then in the 93rd minute substitute Donyell Malen shot from close range, but the ball flew slightly wide, almost brushing the right-hand post.Lewandowski’s free kick and Tolisso’s attempt from half pitch to an empty goal were there to close off this amazing derby. With these three points, Bayern distance themselves at summit with four points more than their today’s opponents.Elsewhere, while two best strikers were facing each other in Dortmund – the next best ‘thing’ scored four goals. And all that in the second half. Patrick Schick and his Bayer Leverkusen stomped over bottom sitting Greuther Furth – 7-1. Schick thus overtook Haaland in the second place of Bundesliga top scorer standings with 12 goals overall. Lewa sits comfortably first with 16.BUNDESLIGA – ROUND 14FridayUnion Berlin – RB Leipzig 2-1 (1-1)/Awoniyi 6, Baumgartl 57 – Nkunku 13/SaturdayBielefeld – Koln 1-1 (0-1)/Lasme 59 – Ozcan 17/Augsburg – Bochum 2-3 (0-3)/Gregoritsch 57, Caligiuri 86 pen – Polter 23, 45+2, Holtmann 40/Mainz – Wolfsburg 3-0 (2-0)/Burkardt 2, Stach 4, Lacroix 90 og/Hoffenheim – Eintr.Frankfurt 3-2 (2-1)/Geiger 24, Rutter 30, Samassekou 59 – Borre 15, Paciencia 72/Leverkusen – Greuther Furth 7-1 (3-1)/Adli 12, Tapsoba 17, Hincapie 45, Schick 49, 69, 74, 76/Dortmund – Bayern 2-3 (1-2)/Brandt 5, Haaland 48 – Lewandowski 9, 77 pen, Coman 44/Sunday17:30: (2.30) Stuttgart (3.35) Hertha (3.40)19:30: (1.85) M’ gladbach (3.70) Freiburg (4.60)***odds are subject to change***
