Four easy opponents, three wins and a draw. Antonio Conte’s career with Tottenham started good, but the more serious opponents are yet to come. A draw with Everton and easy wins against Leeds, Brentford and Norwich brought the Italian on the brink of the Champions League place, with a game to spare: Tottenham – Norwich 3:0. It seems that the fourth place will possibly be the highest Spurs can hope for this season, as the leading three teams are on a much higher level.2 – Lucas Moura’s strike for Tottenham was only his second @premierleague goal scored from outside the penalty area, and first since his very first goal in the competition against Fulham in August 2018. Cracker. pic.twitter.com/5YVVfe8wVL— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) December 5, 2021 Even thou the opponents were inferior, one thing has been noticed: in the second consecutive game, and the third since Conte arrived in London, Hugo Lloris kept the net intact. What makes the Italian expert especially happy is that his goalkeeper didn’t even have too much to do. Norwich’s players had the only serious opportunity – Brentford in the middle of the week not so much – and that was because Temu Pukki was sloppy inside the penalty area, and Adam Idah missed the whole goal.
A convincing triumph indicates improvement in the attack as well, although Tottenham reached the goal with the individual qualities of their individuals, or more precisely, the mistakes of the opposing defenders. Lucas Moura started the scoring with a projectile from the penalty area at the start of the match, Davinson Sanchez used the weak reaction of the rival after a corner in the middle of the second half, and Son finished the scoring ten minutes later after a great control of the ball on the ground. With the injury of Sergio Reguilon in the early phase of the match, Conte should also be worried about the form of Harry Kane, who has not scored in the sixth consecutive game in the Premier League. He did have a chance just before the second goal, but his shot was tamed by Krul.PREMIER LEAGUE – ROUND 15SaturdayWest Ham – Chelsea 3-2 (1-2)/Lanzini 40, Bowen 56, Masuaku 87 – Silva 28, Mount 44/Wolverhampton – Liverpool 0-1 (0-0)/Origi 90+5/Newcastle – Burnley 1-0 (1-0)/Wilson 40/Southampton – Brighton 1-1 (1-0)/Broja 29, Maupay 90+8/Watford – Manchester City 1-3 (0-2)/Hernandez 74 – Sterling 4, Silva 31, 63/SundayMan.Utd. – Crystal Palace 1-0 (0-0)/Fred 77/Leeds – Brentford 2-2 (1-0)/Roberts 27, Bamford 90+5 – Baptiste 54, Canos 61/Tottenham – Norwich 3-0 (1-0)/Moura 10, Sanchez 67, Son 77/19:30: (2.50) Aston Villa (3.35) Leicester (3.05)Monday23:00: (3.60) Everton (3.35) Arsenal (2.20)***odds are subject to change***
