The mood in Turin is anything but rosy. After sacking Andrea Pirlo and bringing back Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus fans and management expected a swift return to the top of Serie A. Instead, they are 7 points away from the Champions League spot, with five defeats already (three at home) and the pressure can be felt inside and outside the stadium. With pressure comes nervousness and Juve coach has demonstrated that, along with his striker Alvaro Morata on Sunday night. The pair had a short, but vivid spat in front of everybody, after the Spaniard was substituted in the 73rd minute, while the score has still been 1-0 for the home team.Massimiliano Allegri 🆚 Alvaro Morata pic.twitter.com/FJVHPadOu4— FootballWTF (@FootballWTF247) December 5, 2021 Although Juventus won against lowly Genoa, home team strikers had 12 shots on target (27 in total) and managed only two goals. Credit to Genova keeper Sirigu, who was the man of the match, but some of those chances were harder to miss than to score. The effectiveness of Juve strikers is a reason for concern, and Allegri knows it. That’s probably the reason he was so furious with Morata, who had two excellent chances, but shot directly at Sirigu, and continued his bad streak of only one goal from the last 11 Serie A games. Pitchside microphones inside the stadium caught Allegri saying to Morata: ‘You gifted them a free kick, you have to shut up!’ The Spanish striker responded furiously, firing back: ‘What have I done?!’Cuadrado’s corner goal highlights Juve win over lowly GenoaAfter the match, the Italian tactician downplayed the incident, explaining that he didn’t want to take of Morata, but was forced to, since he got the yellow card and continued to argue with the referee. Allegri also talked about wasted opportunities.”I had not decided to replace him but he got booked and I preferred to take him off. It was nothing and I am sorry, because Alvaro played a great game, even without scoring. I think we wanted to reinforce our position when it comes to percentage of scoring opportunities converted into goals! We’re the worst in Serie A, I think, so wanted to consolidate those statistics! I enjoyed watching the team play this evening, as I have done in other games, even when we lost. We can only improve our effectiveness in front of goal, that’s for sure” Allegri explained to DAZN.
