Lawrence Juma and Hansel Ochieng were on target as Sofapaka condemned Wazito to a 2-1 defeat in an FKF Premier League match played at the Wundanyi Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.Heading to the game, both teams had won their last assignments. Sofapaka downed Kenya Police on Saturday in Nairobi while Wazito saw off Ulinzi Stars on the same day.The match was delayed for half an hour due to the unavailability of an equipped ambulance and when it showed up, the match started with Wazito dominating the early stages of the game. The first came in the 14th minute when a Cliff Nyakeya volley narrowly missed the target and a minute later Musa Masika failed to find the back of the net in a one vs one situation, Batoto ba Mungu’s first chance of the game came in the 16th minute when Tsuma Said’s header was cleared off the line by Wazito defenders. Next was Amos Asembeka whose shot from inside the penalty area was blocked by Sofapaka defender, David Otieno. Sofapaka’s Nigerian import Sunday Ikekhai missed a great opportunity to break the deadlock in the 25th minute when he was set up by David Otieno, with only the keeper to beat, he shot wide. After surviving the early scare Batoto ba Mungu started to attack more and Nixon Omondi thought he had given them the lead only for his 35th minute shot to come off the upright.Two minutes before the break, Wazito missed yet another big opportunity after a quick break involving Masika and Eli Asieche set up Asembeka who shot went narrowly wide. After the leveler, the match turned to a tight contest with both teams striving to take charge of the clash by dominating the midfield area.15 minutes from time, Wazito had a great opportunity when Masika delivered a good cross into the area only for the attackers to fail to connect, Juma then rattled the upright moments later. Sofapaka would restore their lead nine minutes from time through substitute Hansel Ochieng. They defended their advantage to win the game.
