Mathare United head coach Ezekiel Akwana says he is contented by the outcome of his side’s match against Kakamega Homeboyz despite throwing away a two-goal advantage to draw 2-2 with the league leaders. The Slum Boys stunned Homeboyz at Bukhungu in a league match on Wednesday when they went 2-0 inside the first hour of the game courtesy of goals from Eugene Wethuli and a Brian Eshihanda own goal. Homeboyz fought back through substitutes Yema Mwana and Sunday Mutuku to salvage a point in the duel. Super subs Mwana, Mutuku preserve Homeboyz’s unbeaten runIt is a match that many had backed Homeboyz to win easily before the visitors tore the script and were on the verge of ending their three-match losing streak with an important win over Bernard Mwalala’s charges.Other than condemn them for throwing away a two-goal lead, coach Akwana is more than contented. He says the fact that they arrived at Kakamega hours before the game made it difficult for them to fight till the end. He added they wanted a draw from that game.Match Day Gallery pic.twitter.com/TG49KJNs0L— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) December 8, 2021 “I think traveling at might cost us because we arrived at 8 am, just hours before kickoff. Fatigue cost us because my players were somehow tired and I thank them because irrespective of the challenges, they played well, We were leading before the opponents scored late on. I am okay, I wanted a draw in this game and we got it and we leave Kakamega heads high,” “he told Mozzart Sport.Despite losing three games in a row before meeting Homeboyz, Akwana doesn’t believe that they have been performing dismally on the pitch. He wants his side to build on the draw against Homeboyz by beating Nairobi City Stars over the weekend.”You can lose a game that you have played so well in. For example in our match against Talanta we played so well but still lost, today we played well and drew and so a result doesn’t really give the full picture of the game. In our next game against City Stars we are going to give our best to get a win,” he added.
