He was world’s most exciting and expensive teenage star but Martial’s Old Trafford dream is in tatters

The years have passed, managers came and left, but Anthony Martial stayed put. Manchester United’s French forward is currently one of the club’s longest-serving players, having arrived from AS Monaco in 2015. But it seems like Martial has come to the end of his journey at Old Trafford. Fed up by limited playing time, the player will demand a move.Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley told Sky Sports News that he’ll have a meeting with the new manager Ralf Rangnick and initiate a move for his client.”Anthony wishes to leave the club in January. He just needs to play. He doesn’t want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon.”The left-footed attacker has mostly been used as a substitute recently. This season he started only twice in the Premier League and has made five more appearances from the bench.Anthony Martial turns 26 today. A change at the helm of the first team can sometimes re-ignite a player’s career and revert their decision to leave. However, Rangnick has only joined recently and isn’t likely to make any decisions before he fully assessed the squad at his disposal. The German coach has already been able to assess 27 different players during his opening matches with Crystal Palace and Young Boys, while also conducting several training sessions at United’s Carrington training centre.”I’ve got to know them better obviously in this week, I saw most of them play in two games. If I look at the number of players we have it’s still a big squad, we definitely do not have not enough players but we also need to make sure that players want to stay here. If they’re not getting enough game time, it might make sense to speak individually with those players, to see what might work.”Martial still hasn’t played under Rangnick. The man who was once world’s most expensive teenager when United paid $66 million still has two and a half years left on his contract. The Reds are in action on Saturday at Carrow Road, hoping to build on the consecutive Premier League victories over Arsenal and Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. Will Martial be included in the team?
