Tusker FC tactician Robert Matano wants his side to transform their performance in the return leg of their match against Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in the CAF Confederation Cup playoff to the league matches. In the away game in Tunisia, Tusker put up a spirited performance against the North Africans despite going down by a solitary goal to crush out of the competition eventually. With all their focus now shifted to league action, the disciplinarian wants the same impressive attitude and display by his players in that match replicated as they embark on defending the league title.😄| The winning team from today’s session. pic.twitter.com/IwlZdE5BJe— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) December 8, 2021 Matano lauded the all-roundedness of his team in that game, pointing out the level of maturity and organizational discipline in both attack and defense, urging his charges to stick to that in the local scene.“We played good football and we performed like champions. We played as an organized team and I was really impressed with the performance. This was one of the most superb matches I have seen since I joined Tusker. I saw maturity and composure, a well-organized team both in attack and defense, we had calm minds and played our hearts out. We should stick to that and now we have the rhythm. We should maintain that same spirit. We are going to defend our title and we will be back into the league with our heads held high and with a lit of confidence,” Matano told the club’s portal.Tusker had a faulty start to the league, losing in their first two matches against AFC Leopards and newbies FC Talanta before recording back-to-back wins against Wazito and Kenya Police, then reverting to a loss against Kariobangi Sharks.Great team effort. We left it all on the field.Disappointed to bow out of the tournament by a single goal but we leave with our heads held high.Lots of experience gained.Focus shifts back to the league.Proud of the boys.@tusker_fc pic.twitter.com/BOOzT2Omzh— Eugene Asike (@eugeneasike) December 5, 2021 The slow start has seen the Brewers languish in the bottom half of the table with just six points although they have played fewer matches.Tusker are set to lock horns with Sofapaka FC on Sunday for their first league game since being dumped out of the continental competition and will be hoping that they can turn around their poor start, starting with that game.
