Gaza: The referee robbed us

AFC Leopards assistant coach Tom Juma has slammed match officials for disallowing one of their goals in the one-all draw against Vihiga United in a league match played at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Sunday.United scored a 90th minute goal from the spot to salvage a point from the game that was largely dominated by Ingwe. Eugene Mukangula opened the scoring five minutes into the second half before Mike Isabwa brought Vihiga’s seven-match losing streak to a halt with a late leveler from the spot.In the first half, Ingwe were denied what they thought was a clean goal when Brian Wanyama’s strike came off the upright, hit inside the goal area and bounced back. The centre referee did not heed to Ingwe’s pleas and did not award the strike as a goal.FULL TIME Vihiga Bullets 1 AFC Leopards 1#Betsafe #OursForever pic.twitter.com/UteyN9vpNr— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) December 12, 2021 At full time, Juma chose to focus on the disallowed goal. He believes that had the goal stood, the final outcome of the match would have been different.“The game was good, we played well but yeah we are a little disappointed with the final outcome of the match. We were denied a clear goal by the officials, the assistant referee clearly saw that it was a goal and he ran back to the center but the centre ref decided otherwise and that’s a big blow for us because this would have been an important win for us,” he said.Despite protests from some Ingwe supporters over the late penalty awarded to the hosts, Juma held a different opinion. He believes that the spot kick was rightly awarded.“They got a penalty which they scored from, a very clear penalty and we cannot complain about that but our biggest complaint is in the way our genuine goal wasn’t given because we would have sealed the win, “he added.
