It’s raining toys: A beautiful tradition for homeless kids

The audience at the Benito Villamarín Stadium in Seville had something to see in the spectacular victory of Betis over Real Sociedad (4:0), but the first star of the match was actually an eight-year-old boy Alba Fernandez. Why? When he was only four years old, he was diagnosed with leukemia, and after two and a half years of aggressive treatment, he managed to fight against a vicious disease. While Alba Fernandez was being treated, Betis fans came up with the idea which is slowly turning into a beautiful tradition. All as part of the action: “Let no child celebrate Christmas without a toy.” The action succeeded! The fans complied with the public invitation and came to the stadium with toys that will find their new friends in the days before the biggest holiday. Really nice idea and even better performance. In 2016, ADO Den Haag supporters showered kids with toys in a great gesture. The children, from the Sophia Children’s Hospital, were seated below Den Haag fans.
