Nobody really wants Icardi – yet nobody is giving up on him

Paris don’t want to let him leave because of their ongoing injury crisis, and Juventus only want to take him on loan. These are not great days for Mauro Icardi, a player that was widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world not so long ago.Juventus are desperate for goals. So desperate, in fact, that they are willing to sign Icardi, former captain of Inter, their biggest rivals. However, the Turin club is unsure about the deal in the long run and only want to negotiate a loan deal that would run until the end of the season.💥 Mauro #Icardi is very close to sign with Juventus in January. The Parisians paid $55 million to secure the 28-year-old attacker’s signature two years ago, but you’d never guess that looking at his stats. This season he’s mostly been used as a sub, appearing 14 times in Ligue 1 with a modest return of three goals.Tuesday, 23.00: (2.10) Genoa (3.45) Salernitana (3.50)Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara has travelled to Turin to talk to Juventus’ number one man Andrea Agnelli about the possible deal. The Old Lady of Turin will likely submit a loan offer with an option to make the transfer permanent. That sort of arrangement would allow Juve to send the ‘goods’ back to Paris in case the goals don’t start to flow on the Argentine’s return to Serie A.Following the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United, Juventus have struggled to in front of the goal. They only managed 23 goals from 17 Serie A games this season – way too few for a team that’s allegedly a title contender. Whether Icardi is the answer to their problems, however, remains to be seen.
