The Football Kenya Federation Caretaker Committee has directed grassroot based clubs to conduct business with associations that have met the demands of the Sports Act.The committee, that was appointed by the Cabinet Secretary for Sports Amina Mohamed took over the running of the country’s three top tiers that were earlier manned by the disbanded federation as well as took over the roles of the executive committee and the day to day activities of the federation.Under the stewardship of Justice Aaron Ringera (Rtd), the committee had earlier kept its stance on grassroot football as a secret as the competitions among them is the Division Two were allowed to continue under the FKF branches and County associations.FKF Caretaker Committee Statement On Grassroots Football pic.twitter.com/JsXfpimHPN— FKFcaretaker (@FKFcaretaker) December 14, 2021 Shortly after assuming office with the blessings of the Minister, the committee halted the three tiers for two weeks to draw a clear map on how they will manage the competitions.However, in a statement read by Anthony Isayi on behalf of Ringera, the committee that all the branches, associations and any other bod running football are a subordinate of the committee.Amina appoints a caretaker committee to manage FKF affairs“The Committee will shortly embark on grass root tours across the country to engage clubs and football stakeholders with a view to streamlining all football activities at the grass root level. For the avoidance of doubt, all County Associations, Branches and any other organization running the affairs of football are subordinate to the caretaker committee,” read part of the statement.The committee that was also tasked in organizing elections before their mandate elapses further encouraged clubs to conduct business with associations that had met the requirements of the Sports Act. Clubs are further advised to deal with branches and associations that are compliant and where in doubt to verify this information with the Sports Registrar,” added the communication from the committee.
