Under a new coach, Domitila Wangui, who has been tasked with chasing the ever elusive title for the Kiambu-based outfit, Gaspo Women are hoping to get their campaign off to a winning start away in Kisumu. Kisumu All Starlets play host to the 2021 Kenya Women Premier League (WPL) finalists at the Moi Stadium as the side look to use home advantage for a winning start of their own, as the 2021/22 WPL season gets underway. “We have prepared well for this match and for the season but the real test comes when we step on the pitch against the opponent. We ate here for maximum points but I will also be using the match to gauge our level of fitness, competitiveness and what we need to improve on tactically,” offered Wangui ahead of the match. This is a first meeting for the two sides and a tough test for Bunyore who gained promotion to the top tier league after winning division one’s zone B and subsequently lifted the division’s title in a playoff against Kangemi Ladies. Ahead of the season, coach Daniel Arunga has bolstered his squad, bringing in nine to strengthen the squad that did duty in the lower division and ensure depth for the kind of competition expected in the league.Joining from Nyuki Starlets is the trio of defender Fadhila Sumba, goalkeeper Ivy Makokha and Bracsides Itamba in midfield.
