Homeboyz gearing up for a tough Tusker clash

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala has predicted a tough game when his side comes up against Tusker FC on Thursday in a rescheduled FKF Premier League at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega. The match was initially set to be played in October but had to be penciled for another date due to Tusker’s involvement in the CAF Champions League and later CAF Confederation Cup. They have since been eliminated from the competition and will take on Mwalala’s charges to get rid of the game in hand. The match is between teams with contrasting fortunes at the moment. Homeboyz are the only unbeaten side in the league, they are joint top in the FKF Premier League and downed Gor Mahia in their last league outing over the weekend. Tusker on the other hand are trying to find their footing again. They have featured in seven league matches so far, winning three, drawing one, and losing the other three.Coach Mwalala on the Wheel #Mozzartbet#wearehomeboyz#AbanaBeingo pic.twitter.com/wAeAvO3sYM— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) December 21, 2021 Ahead of the Bukhungu showdown, Mwalala has warned that they cannot afford any laxity in that game. He also said that he anticipates a good game between the two sides.“It is another tough game just like the Gor Mahia one and we definitely have to approach it with the seriousness that it deserves. Tuskers are the reigning league champions and as such, there is no room for underrating them because they also have a very good coach in Robert Matano, a proven winner. I expect a very tough game but it should be an entertaining one because it is a game against two good sides,” he stated. On the injury front, only Francis Omondi who underwent surgery last month is out. The tactician also revealed that he has a few ‘flu issues’ to worry about ahead of the game. The Big Interview with ex-Gor Mahia midfielder Tobias Otieno“We do not have any injury concern at the moment. Omondi who underwent surgery is definitely out of the game. We also have a few cases of the viral flu but we will have a clearer picture on Thursday on who will be in a position to play and who will miss the game entirely,” he added. The match starts at 3 PM EAT.
