Muyoti delighted with City Stars’ improved defensive robustness

Nairobi City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti has expressed his delight at the strides the team is making to improve on their defensive robustness after having a leaky start to the 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League campaign.Since the start of the season when Muyoti took over at the club after ending his stint at Kakamega Homeboyz, the Jonathan Jackson-funded outfit had never kept back to back clean sheets in the seven opening rounds up until matchday 8 and 9 where they managed to shut out their opponents Nzoia Sugar and Mathare United respectively.FOCUS 👀#PhotoOfTheDay#Edu #𝕊𝕚𝕞𝕓𝕒𝕎𝕒ℕ𝕒𝕚𝕣𝕠𝕓𝕚 pic.twitter.com/qdMXxyOFyM— Official Nairobi City Stars Fc (@NrbCityStars) December 15, 2021 After having not conceded in consecutive matches for the first time, Muyoti, in analyzing positives from his short stay at the club so far, noted that the team’s defense is an area that had caused him concern early on but the latest performance has left him optimistic of progress.“We started the league on a bad note especially because of our defensive discipline but now we have really worked on it and that is why we managed to keep two consecutive clean sheets for the first time in the season. That is a big plus for us as a team now that the defense is doing well,” the coach told Mozzart Sport.Environment-friendly City Stars end use of plasticsWhile the coach was happy with the progress made defensively, Muyoti said the opposite about his forward line. Despite being the second highest-scoring team in the league on 16 goals, only three behind Kariobangi Sharks, the former Kenyan international called for more from his team going forward.“The only problem for us is in our final third. We really need to work on that to make sure we are creating more chances and scoring more goals,” the coach added.City Stars will face Gor Mahia in their next league encounter on Thursday 30 December 2021 in their last match of 2021.
