Xavi had hard time falling asleep after Sevilla draw

Just after the match with Sevilla, Barcelona coach Xavi confessed that he won’t sleep that easily. The Catalonians played one of their better games since the beginning of the season, but the positive result didn’t follow. With a mere draw, Barca missed the chance of getting closer to the last Champions League spot, and will finish the season in the 7th position. But, Xavi liked what he saw in last night’s game and vowed to continue with the same pace in 2022. 10 men Sevilla saves a point against BarcelonaBarcelona tactician knows that Kounde’s dismissal was the opportunity his team had to use in order to win the game. “It’s bittersweet and it’ll be hard for me to sleep. We had to win, especially with a man advantage. We have to be calmer when we’re a man up. We were very good in the first half, and the team are growing. We’re pressing when we lost the ball and circulating it better. We needed to win to move into the Champions League places, but I’m proud despite the draw. We weren’t lucky tonight. I’m very proud of everyone. This Barcelona look like the team I want to have. It was a golden opportunity to move into the Champions League places. A point does nothing for us. Sevilla  are a great team, but we were the better side today. I think we deserved more. The worst thing about tonight is the result, but we’re on the right track. The feelings are good, the result isn’t. We’ll pick up again in the new year” said Xavi after the match. As if they needed another reality check! Real Madrid boss dismisses Barca’s title ambitionsSevilla’s scorer Papu Gomez was asked not about this goal, but rather stupid act of his teammate, who left them in a lurch for half an hour. “I think it has cost us up top after the red card but we had a good game. Kounde will be angry and frustrated, it’s normal to feel bad after an error like that, but he is a top player and I’m sure he will be self-critical. We were not playing badly until the red card. Barca has a lot of quality and when you don’t apply that high pressure, it’s normal that you have some danger” Gomez said in his Movistar interview after the game.
