Champions Tusker face title chasing Kakamega Homeboyz in their Bukhungu cauldron

Kakamega Homeboyz will be seeking to dislodge KCB from the apex of the FKF Premier League when they host defending champions Tusker at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Thursday afternoon. The rescheduled clash was initially penciled for October but had to be put on hold as Tusker were participating in the CAF Champions League and later Caf Confederation Cup. They have since been tossed out of the competition and their focus is now on the local scene.Homeboyz are currently on a good run. They are yet to lose a game this season and are joint top in the log with KCB, both teams have amassed 21 points and Homeboyz need to avoid defeat against the Brewers to dislodge the Bankers who have a better goal difference. Tusker on the other hand have not started the season too well, they have played seven games, won three, lost three with the other one ending in a draw. Last weekend they downed Nzoia in Bungoma and they will be desperate to build on that with another win in Western Kenya against the confident Homeboyz led by former Kenyan International Bernard Mwalala.Mwalala says he anticipates a tough game when they come up against the reigning league champions. He however expects an entertaining encounter.“It is another tough game just like the Gor Mahia one and we definitely have to approach it with the seriousness that it deserves. Tuskers are the reigning league champions and as such, there is no room for underrating them because they also have a very good coach in Robert Matano, a proven winner. I expect a very tough game but it should be an entertaining one because it is a game against two good sides,” Mwalala said.Tusker youngster Rodgers Ouma on the other hand recognizes Homeboyz’ form but says they are there to bag get a win. “They are in great form right now and so are we because we are trying to pick ourselves. We want to win and we are going to try to do just that,” he opines.
