Magassouba: It is our time to win AFCON

Mali national team head coach, Mohamed Magassouba says the target is to go a step higher and win the 2021 African Cup of Nations that starts in exactly two weeks’ time.Despite producing big talents over the years, the Eagles have never won the African Cup of Nations title. Their best performance was during their maiden appearance at the 1972 showpiece where they lost to Congo in the final played in Cameroon.Mgassouba wants to change this run and he believes that they have a chance of ending their wait for a continental title. He however believes that they will have to pull together to have a shot at the continental tournament.”We want to push the Eagles to fly towards the coronation. To get there, you need a sacred union,” he said during the unveiling of his squad.Magassouba named his squad that has begun preparations for the tournament. It consists of EPL pair of Yves Bissouma and Moussa Djenepo, Amadou Haidara of Leipzig, Aliou Dieng of Al Ahly, Adama Traore of Sheriff Tripoli among others.Mohammed Magassouba has named 🇲🇱 Mali’s 28-man final squad for the 2021 AFCON in 🇨🇲 Cameroon next month. 🦅The list include Djigui Diarra and Aliou Dieng from Yanga SC and Al Ahly respectively. 🔥 #TotalEnergiesAFCON2021 I #Mali pic.twitter.com/9QJvXXhmZd— 𝑀𝑖𝑐𝑘𝑦 𝐽𝑛𝑟 ✪ (@MickyJnr__) December 24, 2021 Mali AFCON squad Goalkeepers: Ismaël Diawara (Malmö, Sweden), Ibrahim Moukoro (TP Mazembé, DR Congo), Djigui Diarra (Young Africans, Tanzania)Defenders: Hamari Traoré (Rennes, France), Moussa Sissako (Standard Liège, Belgium), Falaye Sacko (Guimaraes, Portugal), Mamadou Fofana (Amiens, France), Senou Coulibaly (Dijon, France), Kiki Kouyaté (FC Metz, France), Charles Traoré (FC Nantes, France), Massadio Haidara (RC Lens, France), Issiaka Samaké (Horoya AC, Guinea)Midfielders: Amadou Haidara (RB Leipzing, Germany), Diadié Samassekou (Hoffenheim, Germany), Mohamed Camara (Red Bull Salzburg, Austria), Lassana Coulibaly (Salernitana, Italy), Aliou Dieng (Al Ahly, Egypt), Yves Bissouma (Brighton, England)Forwards: Adama Noss Traoré (Hatyaspor, Turkey), Kouamé Nguessa (Troyes, France), Hamidou Traoré (Girespunsor, Turkey), Kalifa Coulibaly (FC Nantes, France), Moussa Djenepo (Southampton, England), Moussa Doumbia (Reims, France), Lassine Sinayoko (AJ Auxerre, France), El Bilal Touré (Reims, France), Adama Traoré (Sheriff Tiraspol, Moldavia), Ibrahima Koné (Sarsporg, Norway)
