Former Harambee Stars coach linked with a return to Moldova

Former Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat has been linked with a move to Moldovan giants Sheriff Tiraspol a month after he parted ways with Harambee Stars following the expiry of his two-month trial contract.Firat, who was handed the reins at FKF in September left after the unsuccessful World Cup qualification campaign. His final match was against Rwanda in November which coincidentally is the one he won. He was in charge of the team for four games, lost two, drew one, and won one.Following the disbandment of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) by the government, any hopes of his contract being renewed vanished although the installed government Caretaker Committee had promised to meet him to chat a way forward.Reports in Turkey and Ukraine have now linked the tactician with a return to Moldova, this time with their top club Sherrif, 19-time winners of the Moldovan league. Reports in the Turkish media report that current coach Yury Vernydub has told the club that he wants to leave after receiving good offers from the Saudi Arabian league and wants the management to source for his replacement to let him leave. Yury is best remembered for overseeing his team’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid in a UEFA Champions League group stage match in Madrid.2021-2022 sezonunda UEFA Şampiyonlar Ligi’nde mücadele eden ve performansı ile dikkat çeken Moldova’nın Sheriff takımının, Türk teknik direktör Engin Fırat ile ilgilendiği öğrenildi pic.twitter.com/FiLWcmCtiv— İHA Spor (@iha_spor) December 21, 2021 “Coach Yury Vernydub conveyed that he wanted to leave the management.
