Hooliganism, use of live bullets see Onduparaka FC versus KCCA clash abandoned in Uganda

The Uganda Premier League game between Onduparaka FC and KCCA FC was on Monday 27 December 2021 forced into being abandoned after Onduparaka suporters stormed the pitch in protest of an officiating decision where the centre referee had awarded a penalty to KCCA in the dying stages of the game.Before the drama unfolded, the game held at the Green Light Stadium in Arua City looked set end in a 2-2 draw as both sides had scored two goals each, Arafat Usama and Sadat Anaku finding the back of the net for KCCA while Rashud Okocha and Muhammad Shaban scored for the hosts.However, it is in added time that things set off when referee Robert Madanda awarded a penalty to the visitors after striker Brian Aheebwa was adjudged to have been fouled in the penalty area much to the dispute of the Onduparaka players and fans who invaded the pitch.Onduparaka vs KCCA FC game was abandoned I will always stand against Such decisions from fans who thinks that be that product is ours we should behave like Animals , why not everyone He/she is a referee or A pilot so it means it takes time and process through study pic.twitter.com/hOMWkUtFwe— Wagaba James Luiz (@LuizWagaba) December 27, 2021 Police were forced to fire live bullets to disperse the protesting fans forcing the game to be abandoned after no peaceful end to the match.On Tuesday morning, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA, the country’s football organizing body, released a statement noting that effective action will be meted on the culprits of the hooliganism.“The incidents at Green Light Stadium between ONDUPARAKA FOOTBALL CLUB and KCCA FC on 27.12.2021 can’t be tolerated in football as we must protect the game at all times to interest many stakeholders. FUFA will take action soon and also apply its rules and regulations on the matter,” the statement read.According to FUFA competiton Rules 2021, “clubs in the competition are responsible for order and security both inside and outside the stadium before, during and after matches.”The rules also state that if during game time, acts of hooliganism and violence cause the abandonment of a match, the defaulting club, if found liable will lose the match by forfeiture.”“For a league format competition, the defaulting club will further lose three (3) Points and three (3) Goals from those already accumulated while for a knock-out format the defaulting club will be eliminated from the competition and any other disciplinary sanction deemed by the judicial body,” reads part of the rules.This is not the first time Onduparaka fans are invading the pitch. During Onduparaka’s game with Arua Hill FC earlier this season, the fans broke into the Barifa Stadium, the home of Arua Hill FC as tension rose between the fans of the two sides.
