Former FKF President Sam Nyamweya has hit out at the FKF Caretaker Committee following reports that the Aaron Ringera-led team is seeking to appoint a new Harambee Stars coach. With the departure of Engin Firat whose contract with the national team expired last month, the committee is reportedly keen on filling the void with former Stars coach Adel Amrouche and ex Gor Mahia tactician Vaz Pinto among those touted for the job.In a heavy-worded letter, Nyamweya, a long-serving football boss has taken a swipe at the Caretaker Committee saying that they are getting their priorities wrong. He further blasted the members of having misplaced priorities and running out of ideas barely 45 days into the job. Nyamweya further stated that the committee has no power to appoint a national team coach. The FKF Caretaker Committee would like to send heartfelt condolences to family & friends of the late Referee Nicholas Omondi. Until the time of his death,Omondi who also officiated NSL matches last season – was a teacher at Mariwa Pri School in Ndhiwa Sub County. May he RIP.— FKFcaretaker (@FKFcaretaker) December 28, 2021 Nyamweya letterBarely 45 days after its appointment, the FKF caretaker committee is fast running out of ideas and delving into misplaced priorities. A section of the members of the committee are heavily pushing and canvassing for the appointment of certain individual(s )to take over the vacant position of the Head Coach of the National Football team Harambee stars. This begs the following questions • Is the appointment of Harambee Stars coach a priority? • when is the next assignment for Harambee stars? Is the problem with the performance of Harambee stars primarily one of coaching? Are there underlying issues with the selection of players to the national team that needs redressing? Does the FKF caretaker committee members have the mandate and capacity to engage and employ a competent national team Coach? Who will bear the burden of paying the Coach(es). Is someone or some committee member(s) acting as undercover agents out to make a killing by way of getting hefty commissions from signing of such a contract(s)? Open canvasing by the so-called potential candidates for the position of Harambee stars coach is on high gear, and assuming a dangerous trajectory. I submit to the FKF caretaker that : 1. Offering structured support including but not limited to financial support to the FKF Premier League clubs, NSL, Div 1, Women Premier League, Women Divl club’s is a priority, 2. Paying the match officials fees for the aforementioned Leagues is a priority, 3. Extending Financial grants to the County Football Associations registered under the Sports Act 2013[2018] is a priority, 4. Reinvigorating and spurring growth and participation of grassroots football is a priority, 5. Scheduling and Meeting with County Football Associations and football Stakeholders at the Counties is a priority Starlets preparation for their next assignment in February 2022 is a priority, 7. Setting up a youth football development framework is a priority, 8. Amending and aligning the FKF constitution( 2017 )to the Sports Act 2013[2018] is a priority, 9. Amending the FKF Electoral code to align it to Constitution of Kenya 2010, Sports Act 2013 [2018] 10. Setting a date for free, fair, and transparent FKF Elections is also a priority 11. That appointment of Harambee stars Coach is not the mandate of a transitional Committee such as the FKF Caretaker Committee 12. That majoring in minors is not a priority, 13. That FKF caretaker committee runs and is sustained by taxpayers’ money and offering corresponding value is a priority. 14. That FKF caretaker committee has a shelf life of six (6) Months with no option for extension. 15. That 45 days have already been expended, with no tangible results. 16. That to-date FKF caretaker has not made public a definite plan of action, activities, tasks, and performance targets.
