Top-flight side Nzoia Sugar have been thrown into pandemonium ahead of their Thursday league match against KCB after their head coach Ibrahim Shikanda abruptly relinquished his position. The tactician had earlier threatened to throw in the towel citing frustrations from unnamed quarters in the club and the awful start of the season and hardly three weeks after dropping the hint, the former Nairobi Stima boss has made good his threat. The gaffer who recently graduated from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) level B coaching course in a text said he was fed and would desert the touchline for a while before plotting for a comeback.Kupasha misuli moto, manake tunarejea kwa kishindo. #SweeteningKenyanFootball. @Ibrahadolwa @dickxion_genius @ElvisMukhwana pic.twitter.com/IzJkfzE2ju— NZOIASUGARFC (@nzoiasugarfc2) November 30, 2021 Reacting to the shocking developments, the club’s chairman Evance Kadenge said Shikanda had not furnished his office with a resignation letter neither did he verbally voice out his concerns or wish to leave the team he joined in January this year.Nzoia head coach Ibrahim Shikanda hints at exit citing frustrationHowever the administrator conceded that he was aware that the former Bandari assistant coach had not traveled to Nairobi for the KCB match.”He hasn’t written to my office indicating that he has resigned. My team manager has informed me that he did not leave with the team for Nairobi. Considering that we did not have an assistant coach, the available technical bench members will take charge,” he said. While regretting on Shikanda’s exit, Kadenge revealed plans of filing the voids in the bench with tacticians who meets the requisite demands set for top flight coaches.”We will definitely begin the process of hiring a new coach and his assistant. Holders of the CAF C coaching badge and above are encouraged to apply,” he stated.Shikanda’s resignation leaves the team that had already hit the road for the away match in the hands of the inexperienced Peter Gin who was elevated to the rank of trainer after hanging his boots last season. The former defensive midfielder will be assisted by the goalkeepers’ trainer Eric Wasike and the team manager John Muraya.
