Kakamega Homeboyz defender Sylvester Owino says the league leaders will be out to get maximum points when they face off with AFC Leopards on Wednesday at the Nyayo National team in what has been dubbed the ‘Ingo Derby’.Homeboyz have started the season well and are in the only remaining unbeaten side in the league ten matches into the 2021/22 FKF Premier League season. In Leopards, they face a side struggling with consistency and on paper, Bernard Mwalala’s side can be labeled favorites heading into the mach against the 12-time league champions.Homeboyz beat Gor Mahia and Tusker FC in their last two games and Owino says they will approach the match against Patrick Aussems’ charges with the same mentality. He added that they are targeting maximum points from the Nyayo Stadium clash.Update:Our final match of the year 2021 will see us face off with AFC Leopards on Wednesday at the Nyayo National Stadium.#abanabeingo pic.twitter.com/gnI1Umch0i— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) December 27, 2021 “The match against AFC Leopards is a derby and in such games, you have to be at your absolute best to win because the opponent can easily surprise you. Our past two games were against big sides, Tusker and Gor Mahia are both giants and we got wins and so we have to approach the game against Leopards with the same mentality and get the job done, we are going for maximum points in that game,” he stated. The lanky central defender further warned against underrating Leopards. He says the current form won’t count much if they do not get the basics right and implement their game plan fully.“They may be struggling in terms of form at the moment but we cannot underrate them, a derby is not always won by the inform team and as such we must get the basics right, implement our gameplan well and have some little of luck on our side to get maximum points,” he added. The Ingo derby will start at 3 PM.
