Replenished K’Ogalo seek to end misfiring run against City Stars

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will be out to find their footing once again in the 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League campaign when they welcome seventh placed Nairobi City Stars in a Thursday afternoon league match set to be played at Nyayo National Stadium. After having a better takeoff at the start of the season in September, the 19 time Kenyan champions have found themselves massively lacking in their last two league outings where a lack of incision in the final third has seen the Mark Harrison coached side collect only one point from the last six available.Within that run, the team has also lost their unbeaten start to the season after Kakamega Homeboyz got the better of them in match day 9. However, having rested for nearly two weeks since that first defeat of the season, a fully replenished and recharged K’Ogalo will be looking to end the year on a high when they welcome Simba wa Nairobi at Nyayo and not Kasarani as was initially planned.Venue change alert: Gor to host City Stars at NyayoGor Mahia will host NCS at the Nyayo National Stadium – and not Kasarani as earlier planned. All the pressure is on us to perform because we never thought we would lose the game against Homeboyz in the manner that we did due to some poor officiating. All that is behind us now. Since then we have had quite some rest to reflect and refresh. All the players came back motivated and ready for the final fixture of the year. We want to close off 2021 well and only a win will do that,” the player remarked.Ratiba ya mechi za #FKFPL ambazo zitachezwa leo, tarehe 30 mwezi wa Disemba 2021. pic.twitter.com/ckptzj8G1W— FKFcaretaker (@FKFcaretaker) December 30, 2021 On the other hand, City Stars will be hoping to shake off their inconsistent tag that has slowly crept its way back to the team. After a run of three straight wins in the first four games, the Nicholas Muyoti coached side has lost twice, drawn twice and won twice in their last six games. To boost their chances, Muyoti can once again turn to his first team defenders Kevin ‘Chumsy’ Okumu, Salim ‘Shitu’ Abdala, Kenedy ‘Vidic’ Onyango, experienced Peter ‘Pinchez’ Opiyo and former Gor forward Nicholas Kipkirui who all sat out of their loss against KCB due to a flu outbreak. In the match though, Gor hold a superior record in the head to head sector as from the previous 24 games, they have won 12 matches compared to City Stars’ four. The other eight have all been draws. Will they keep up with their dominance in the tie or will City Stars cause an upset? The game kicks off at 1500EAT.
