Versatile Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Sunday Mutuku has revealed that the urge to unite with his family compelled him to turn down lucrative offers in the Ethiopian league for a return to the Kenyan league. Mutuku returned to the local league before the season began after spending almost four years in Ethiopia where he was rumored to be among the top earners. He signed a year-long contract with Homeboyz and already has two goals against his name from the opening ten rounds of the season. The player disclosed that he wanted to be close to his two-year old son whom he had not been privileged to bond with him sufficiently for the time he was in Ethiopia.Match Day Bidco United vs Kakamega Homeboyz 3PM Sub-County stadium. #MozzartBet#wearehomeboyz#AbanaBeingo pic.twitter.com/5mhhAXhJ5w— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) December 11, 2021 “After my contract expired, I received offers but I badly wanted to come back home just to be close with my son. It would pain me whenever I would come home during the off season break that he couldn’t recognize me. I felt staying close to him would help strengthen the bond. I also wanted a new challenge in my career although I am not yet done with professional football, ” he said. Mutuku in the meantime is the latest player from the club to sensationally claim that the club will dethrone Tusker and represent the country in the CAF Champions League.Homeboyz have established themselves as potential title contenders going by the results they have reaped from the first ten rounds of this term where they have won seven and drawn three times. On Location, Nairobi. #AbanaBeingo pic.twitter.com/m7jvf2tArS— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) December 28, 2021 Mutuku who returned to the club at the start of the season for a second stint said that coach Bernard Mwalala had the depth and quality to wrestle the title from the hands of Tusker.”We are going for the league title this season.
