From Atletico via Juventus: Morata is Xavi’s next target

If Barcelona pulls this off, the question is – what would happen in January if the Catalonians did have the money? Alvaro Morata is the next transfer target for the cash stripped Barca, as confirmed by numerous reports from both Spain and Italy. And not only this is interesting from a financial point of view (since Barca don’t have the money, but keep buying), but also from Spanish clubs perspective. If this deal goes through, Morata will be one of only three footballers who played for all three big clubs in Spain: Real, Atletico and Barcelona (other two are Bern Schuster and Miguel Soler). 🚨📲 #Barcellona push hard for #Morata: 🔵🔴 and 🇪🇦 striker have found the understanding in principle.🟢 #Juventus would give the green light if they find a forward replacement soon. The crux of the matter remains the agreement (not so easy) with #Atleti: ongoing talks. 🐓⚽ pic.twitter.com/NDdj9rntTs— Rudy Galetti (@RudyGaletti) December 30, 2021 First of all, Morata and Xavi talked on the phone and the player is willing to come, and even lower his salary in order for Barca to comply with the Fair Play rules. Secondly, he doesn’t need any additional time to settle, since he has a lot of teammates from the Spain national team already in Barcelona. But, the deal is complicated, since it involves three clubs who all must agree. Morata is still Atletico’s player, and Juventus is paying his wages but he is officially on loan from Madrid (for the second time) and the price for getting him is 4.4 billion Ksh, which Juve doesn’t want to pay. (1.95) VALENCIA (3.50) ESPANYOL (4.40) Juve has shown no intention of keeping Morata, which is a good sign for Barca, but Allegri doesn’t want to let one striker go without signing a replacement. Xavi then tried to offer Memphis Depay but Juve coach refused, as he wants a classic center-forward. Still, the clubs will find an agreement, but then the attention turns to Atletico Madrid, with whom Morata has a contract until 2023. On the one hand, there is the issue of Griezmann and the 40 million that Atletico has to pay at the end of the course if they want to sign him. On the other hand, it’s the Morata issue, so the deal will probably be struck between Barca and Atletico directly. Blurry times ahead for the Juve – Dybala relationshipAfter the signing of Ferran Torres, the arrival of Morata would also increase the list of Spanish internationals in the squad, as Ansu, Pedri, Gavi, Busquets, Alba and Eric Garcia are already there.
