AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems has called on the Ingwe management to make a number of signings in the midseason transfer window in a bid to offer a helping hand to youngsters at the club who are currently bearing all the weight of shouldering the club’s responsibilities. In the 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League campaign, the 12 time Kenyan champions were forced to rely on their academy in order to fill up numbers in the squad as upto sixteen experienced players all departed the club all in favour of moves elsewhere, leaving Aussems with a rebuilding job with no experienced faces to help him out.2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣HAPPY NEW YEAR #Betsafe #OursForever #YaMatere pic.twitter.com/gyGRy3Rfv5— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) January 1, 2022 The enormity of the task at hand has kept on revealing itself as Ingwe, who finished 4th last season, currently sit in 14th place on 10 points, fifteen behind log leading Kakamega Homeboyz who they played with to a 2-2 draw in their last league outing.Despite making a number of signings on the last day of the off season transfer window, the Belgian tactician reiterated that the team still need 2-3 new faces in order to take the club to the next level.“I hope we make signings in January. I would like to have two or three more signings and I already communicated that to the management long ago. We know we are producing some good football and we know which positions we require to go to the next level. The young players have done a good job but they need to learn. If we get some experience, the team will get better and better for sure,” the coach remarked.MATCHDAY GALLERY AFC Leopards 2 Kakamega Homeboyz 2⚽️ Brian Wanyama ⚽️ Eugene Mukangula #Betsafe #OursForever #YaMatere pic.twitter.com/Yqc782EAis— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) December 29, 2021 Among the position that the head coach is looking to strengthen include the striking department where the club has massively missed the services of Elvis Rupia who scored 17 goals last season and finished as the league’s second top scorer.Currently, the club is the second least scoring team in the entire league as they have scored only seven goals in eleven games. Only bottom-placed Vihiga Bullets have scored less, 3.
