Gor Mahia vice chairman Francis Wasuna has moved to quell suggestions that the club’s head coach Mark Harrison has left the club by assuring that the Briton will jet back next week.Harrison quietly left the country on the eve of Christmas for a supposed festive season holiday break leaving his assistant Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo in charge of the team.Under Pamzo, Gor lost to Nairobi City Stars for the first time in a decade when they fell 2-0 to Simba Wa Nairobi last week at the Nyayo Stadium and will be seeking to redeem themselves when they face Nzoia Sugar on Wednesday at Sudi Stadium.Pamzo in sharp focus as fading Gor Mahia face historical bogeys Nzoia SugarWasuna revealed that the former Township Rollers boss is in the final week of his holiday and will fly back next week and pick up his touchline duties.Whispers from the club had earlier indicated that the former Southampton player had followed the footsteps of his predecessors who have adopted the unorthodox ploy of seeking permission to attend to pressing family issues only to announce their resignation upon leaving the country.“We are expecting him to come back next week. He is still sorting out some personal issues and we are looking forward to having him back in the course of next week,” he assured. The administrator further downplayed rumours indicating that a number of players had fallen out with Pamzo with others electing to ditch the club under unclear circumstances.Meanwhile, the club’s longest serving midfielder Ernest Wendo cited family issues for his decision to skip the Nzoia game.Pamzo will have to do without the services of the combative midfielder and a number of disgruntled senior players who did not hit the road with the team to Bungoma.“I sought permission to settle some family issues and will be back to the team soon. I have come across news suggesting that I have left the club as a free agent which is not factual as I still have a year remaining in my contract,” said the former Bidco United midfielder.
