KCB head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno has distanced himself from engaging in premature title talk in the 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League and has called on his side to focus on taking it one game at a time in the ongoing top tier campaign.Currently, the Bankers, who have never achieved any top flight league success in their history since formation, find themselves leading the way on the log table where they have a superior goal difference to Kakamega Homeboyz whom they are jointly tied with on 25 points. However, the club find themselves on an impressive eleven match unbeaten run where they have not lost a game since their season opening defeat in September 2021 as they also boast of being one of only three sides that have only lost once this season.KCB midfielder sets eyes on FKFPL titleMoreover, the Bankers are the second least conceding team in the league and are the fourth highest scoring side; a near perfect combination for early season title runners.Despite having all the impressive stats, the KCB head coach, who has enjoyed title successes during his time as an assistant coach with Gor Mahia, quashed any hints of being in the driving seat this early on in the season with only twelve matches having been played so far.“For us we are just taking one match at a time. You cannot talk about going to the top of the table now because we still have very many matches to play. What we need to do is to try and win very many matches as possible then that will give us good motivation going forward,” the head coach told Mozzart Sport.🗣 Had a brief talk with the coach last night and this is what he had to say about being acknowledged as the 1st Runner Up @Officialfkfpl coach of the season and what to expect in his 3rd season with the team.#Believe #LionHearted 🦁 pic.twitter.com/KH0Ignwf2d— KCB Football Club 😷 (@KCBFootball) September 15, 2021 Despite not wanting to be embroiled in the title talk, Zico expressed confidence that his team has what it takes to achieve the historic feat so long as they outperform the results they got last season were they finished as runners up in the league on 62 points, three behind champions Tusker.“I have no doubt about my team. We have a very strong team that is able to dig deep. One thing I must say is that if we get more points than we achieved last season then for us we will have achieved our target. But if we can do better than last season, then definitely I think we will be champions,” the head coach added.Over the weekend, the head coach will lead his troops to a home encounter against sophomores Bidco United that will tentatively take place on Sunday afternoon at Utalii Grounds.
