Youthful Wazito goalkeeper Bixente Otieno has revealed his plan of toppling the experienced duo of Bashir Sekagya an Adisa Omar from the starting team in the near future. The youngster fell down the pecking order following the arrival of the two man mountain shot stoppers in the last transfer window reducing him to a bench warmer contrary to his season’s resolution of playing regularly for the club that brought him to the limelight.Bixente was thought to be closing on regular playing time when the club let go Frederick Odhiambo and Levis Opiyo in the same window but the acquisition of other two goalkeepers curtailed his dream of donning the number shirt.Adisa who was acquired from Bidco United made a couple of starts but was dropped for Sekagya who was poached from Ugandan side Vipers who has since established himself as the preferred starter in between the sticks. The former national U20 Rising Stars goalkeeper made the starting team during their league match against Nairobi City and despite being arguably the best Wazito player on the pitch, they lost 3-1 at Thika Stadium.31′ Bixente Otieno keeping Wazito in the game here at Thika. Boy is pulling some good saves here. Wouldn’t be surprised if he keeps his place in the starting team going forward City Stars 0 Wazito 0— Meshack Kisenge (@kisengemeshack1) October 21, 2021 Bixente said he was putting extra efforts in training and at the same time praying for an opportunity to play to pop up and prove to coach Francis Kimanzi that he has come of age.” Everyone in the team wants to play and for me to get some minutes, I have to work hard in training and have the right attitude.I am lucky to have the other two goalkeepers as my teammates but I believe that through my hard work, I will be able to get playing time just the way they have been been considered before. I feel I am at the top of my game and will run with the chance once it comes,” he said.Wazito hands young goalkeeper Bixente Otieno his #KPL Debut in their tie against Kakamega Homeboyz. Wazito who beefed their squad with arguably the best players in the country have been reduced to punching bags recently and are just a place above the red zone. The club will be seeking their third win of the season when they travel to face another struggling side Vihiga Bullets on Sunday.” This club has shaped me to be the goalkeeper I am today and it pains me when I have a look at the league table. We should be among the title contenders and not fighting relegation. We didn’t start well but I am sure we will get back to track soon and finish in the top five,” he added.
