Nzoia Sugar FC chairman Evans Kadenge has urged the FKF Caretaker Committee to curb the increasing cases of poor officiating in the top tier before things get out of hand.Outcry over poor refereeing in the league is now becoming a norm in the league with teams registering concerns over dwindling levels of match officiating. Kadenge has become the latest football administrator to call on the authorities to curb the vise by ensuring that only competent officials are handed games.”I urge the appointing authorities to ensure that we have competent match officials handling matches. We do not want to see poor officiating become the order of the day,” he told Mozzart SportKadenge was particularly unhappy by officiating during his side’s match against Gor Mahia on Wednesday at the Sudi Stadium in Kakamega. He believes they would have won the game had officiating been better.FULL TIME: Nzoia 1 – 1 Gor Mahia (G. Odhiambo) #Sirkal | #Betsafe— GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) January 5, 2022 “I want to register my concern with the level of officiating yesterday during our match against Gor Mahia because I feel many decisions were made against us and if things were done differently, we would have won that game, “he stated.Gor Mahia took the lead through George Odhiambo’s first-half penalty before James Kibande earned his side a point with a second-half penalty. Kadenge however feels Gor were awarded a nonexistent spot-kick.“For starters, the penalty awarded to Gor Mahia never a penalty. Their striker slipped in the penalty box because the surface was a little slippery and to our astonishment, a penalty was awarded by the referee for a nonexistent foul and this was early in the game and definitely dented the team’s confidence. There are other calls that went against us as well and I want to urge match officials to be fair in officiating because one wrong call can change the course of the game,” he added.Nzoia will play AFC Leopards on Sunday afternoon at Nyayo Stadium.
