Former Sofapaka midfielder, Naya amputated in India

Former Sofapaka midfielder Wisdom Naya has had his left foot amputated just above the knee at a hospital in India after the doctors agreed that it was the best thing to do to prevent the soft-tissue sarcoma from spreading further.Naya was diagnosed with sarcoma last year and immediately started his chemotherapy sessions in Eldoret. This however worsened and his family decided to airlift him to India in December for further treatment. After medical examinations, the doctors decided it was best to get rid of the leg to prevent cancer from spreading to other parts of the body. The youngster is recuperating in India and is expected to fly back on 14th January to continue with his treatment and recovery at home.Wisdom Nayah’s left-foot has been amputated at a hospital in India. He will thereafter undergo five chemotherapy sessions in Kenya. After full recovery, he will get an artificial limb if all goes well it should after three months. Amputation was done to prevent cancer from spreading to other parts of the body…therefore the cost of his treatment dropped and that will see him either buying an artificial leg or securing him a favorite business to support him in life.Naya is currently in good condition and recovering well. Being alive is what we all want for him now most importantly living a good life and we thank GOD for that. He is expected back in the country next week Friday the 14th.Naya, a winner of the national secondary school games U16, u19 and Africa U16 titles with St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale joined Sofapaka in January 2020 after he impressed then-coach John Baraza during trials. Competition and Covid-19 resulted in him leaving the club without making any competitive appearance after he got diagnosed with sarcoma.
