Not sure if this week can beat the weekend we had in Maui. Cameron Smith staring down World No. 1 Jon Rahm and coming out on top? Hopefully, it does, but that’s a tall mountain to climb.
This week, the PGA Tour has made its way to Waialae Country Club for the Sony Open where Kevin Na will try to defend his title. Smith enters the week as the betting favorite at +1000, followed closely by Webb Simpson and Sungjae Im at +1500.
Waialae is a Seth Raynor design, measuring in at 7,044 yards playing as a par 70. The fairways are tight, the greens are small, so a complete 180 from what the guys saw last week at the Plantation Course.

Fantasy golf top 10
Cameron Smith (+1000)
It’d be tough to keep the 2020 Sony Open champion off this list as he’s obviously in good form. In fantasy lineups, he’ll be expensive, but it may be worth it for a roster anchor.
Sungjae Im (+1500)
Im is coming off a T-8 performance at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and has decent history at the Sony with two finishes of T-21 or better in 2019, 2020. He’s also won already this season at the Shriners Children’s Open.
Marc Leishman (+2000)
The Aussie played well in Maui, grabbing a T-10 finish at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Leishman signed for a T-4 last season at the Sony, and finished T-3 back in 2019.
Kevin Kisner (+3000)
The Bulldog is sure to be buzzing after Georgia’s win over Alabama in Monday’s national championship game. He feels comfortable at this golf course with multiple top-five finishes over the last several seasons. His iron play carried him to a T-8 finish at last week’s Sentry TOC, let’s hope that’s the case again this week.
Russell Henley (+3000)
Henley hasn’t played on Tour since the RSM Classic where he finished T-22. He’s compiled three top 20s at this event since 2015, and took home the trophy back in 2013. Henley’s fourth on Tour this season in Strokes Gained: Approach, which will come in handy around this track.
Abraham Ancer (+3000)
Ancer hasn’t played well here in the past and is coming off a mediocre performance in Maui, but his consistent game fits Waialae to a T. Hoping for a bounce-back performance this week.
Charles Howell III (+6000)
It wouldn’t be right to exclude Howell from this list. He hasn’t missed the cut at this event in 20 appearances and has amassed 10 top 20 finishes. We’ll see if he can finally get the job done.
Matthew Jones (+5000)
Jones tied the course record on Sunday at the Plantation Course with a 61 but still fell short of Rahm and Smith. The Aussie played well here last season grabbing a T-11 finish.
Billy Horschel (+5000)
Horschel didn’t have his best stuff in Maui and finished T-23. However, last year at the Sony, he was able to grab a T-7. He’s hitting a lot of fairways so far this season ranking sixth on Tour in that category (72.41 percent).
Hideki Matsuyama (+2000)
The ball-striking machine played solidly last week in Maui finishing T-13. His overall history at the Sony Open has been mediocre, but each of his last two appearances have ended in top 20s.
