That’s what football and the AFCON are all about! We had to wait a couple of days until Cameroon’s second game of the tournament to finally see some impeccable attacking football that was a pure joy to watch. The Indomitable Lions topped Ethiopia 4-1 (1-1) thanks to another exquisite performance of their captain Vincent Aboubakar who bagged a brace in the second game in a row. Toko Ekambi added two more, and the visitors were on their knees.Vincent Aboubakar through two #AFCON2021 games for Cameroon:Burkina Faso: ⚽️⚽️Ethiopia: ⚽️⚽️ pic.twitter.com/I18EAY6Ci6— B/R Football (@brfootball) January 13, 2022 Like in that Burkina Faso tie, Cameroon came from behind to clinch a victory that guarantee them a place in the 1/8 finals as, probably, the winners of Group A.Ethiopia were more than a solid rival at the very heated Olembe stadium, but only during that first 45 minutes. The other was a whole different story.##GALERIJA##In that first half, we saw plenty of action on both ends, lots of goal-scoring opportunities, some formidable tackling and two goals as a cherry on the top of it.Shortly after the kick-off, it propelled with a shocking opener for the guests, only four minutes into the game. It was a three-piece action with Cameroon defender Collins Fae getting too late to stop Dawa Hotessa’s beautiful shot. The Ethiopia goal 😮💨😮💨😮💨pic.twitter.com/9EA4InsArX— Shirtless Plantain Show (@theplantainshow) January 13, 2022 But just like in the opening game against Burkina Faso, the hosts were not worried about that deficit. Just four minutes later, they struck back instantly. Ethiopia’s keeper Shanko put a stop to Aboubakar’s superb mid-range missile, but the action was not over at all. A cross from the right to the far post followed, and a totally unmarked Toko Ekambi found no problem in equalizing with a routine header.GOAL! On the other hand, Cameroon’s full-back Ngamaleu even netted shortly after, but it was rightfully ruled out since he was more than a few inches offside.Still, we were left with some thrill in the minutes that followed. Ethiopa’s centre-back Tamene prevented the opponents from scoring with an outstanding last-gasp tackle. The ball went outside, and a brilliant corner-kick execution saw the scorer Toko Ekambi engaging on the near post with his header hitting the crossbar in the last promising chance of that thunderous first half.GOAL! But even the keeper of such qualities was unable to do anything in the 53rd minute. Cameroon’s top scorer struck with a formidable header to turn the tables thoroughly, and the hosts were one up much deservedly. That was the very moment that changed not only the scoreboard but the game’s momentum also. The home side suddenly seemed super determined and confident, engaging heavily in attacking, which paid off for them almost instantly.Vincent Aboubakar has scored 25% of all the goals at AFCON so far.— Daniel Storey (@danielstorey85) January 13, 2022 Bayern Munich star Choupo-Moting crossed it from the right to Aboubakar, who stepped in once again with his ruthless finishing to nail his fourth AFCON goal for 3-1.GOAL!
