Akhulia eyeing win over Sofapaka to ease relegation woes

Buoyed by an upturn in form from recent games, Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia is angling for a win over Sofapaka to put some distance between them and relegation places. The Thika-based club picked up a victory against title-chasing KCB over the weekend, becoming only the second side to defeat the Bankers after they started the season with a loss to Gor Mahia. 🚨Sunday FKFPL Results🚨AFC Leopards 1-1 Nzoia SugarGor Mahia 1-0 Mathare UnitesKCB 0-1 BidcoVihiga Bullets 4-2 Wazito FCPosta Rangers 1-0 Tusker FC📸: @OfficialGMFC#FFP pic.twitter.com/CT9MCwvezs— Friends of Football (@friendsofutball) January 9, 2022 Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Akhulia was delighted to return to winning ways against KCB and is looking to scale up the table with victory over Batoto ba Mungu and admitted they struggled against KCB.“We have recovered, we need to win again so that we get out of the positon we are in so if we get victory we will move up the table. We did not play well bearing in mind that KCB had a red card but they still managed to display a good performance but the important thing in football because we have been playing well and not winning,” said Akhulia. KCB’s Robinson Kamura was handed his marching orders in the game when he accidentally stepped on David Gateri’s face after the latter fell following a tussle between the two.#FKFPL➡️Kakamega’s @FcHomeboyz returned to the top of the table.➡️ @FcVihiga shocked @wazitofc for their first ever top flight win➡️ @BidcoUnited denied @KCBFootball the opportunity to go top pic.twitter.com/JOyYkJPaMf— FKFcaretaker (@FKFcaretaker) January 9, 2022 The Akhulia-led side posted a torrid start to the season, going five games without a victory which game against a limping Mathare United side but have started gathering pace. Bidco’s clash against Sofapaka is slated for a 3 PM kick-off at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday 16 January.
