A number of Kenyan footballers have found solace in the fast-rising Somalia Premier League mainly due to the financial perks associated with it. Mohammed Hamisi decided to take the risk and left Gogo Boys to join Midnimo FC in 2019. It was not an easy decision as he explains to Mozzart Sport, but looking back, he is proud and happy he took the risk. “I was afraid to be honest but I consulted widely and took the offer. It (offer) came at the right time – when Covid had struck and the Kenyan leagues had been halted so I had to move,” Moddy, as he is commonly known, opened up to Jeff Kinyanjui in an exclusive interview. Players stay in very secure places and we have never had any attacks within the vicinity since I moved there.”Moddy also reveals Somalia have better infrastructrure and organisation in the league. “The pitches where the games are played are really in good condition compared to what is in Kenya. They value and love football and even how we (players) are treated ris way better. The perks are good and they get even better if you perform well,” he said. Moddy also revealed he has offers from several FKFPL clubs as well as outside the country. “My contract with Midnimo FC has lapsed but we are negotiating. There are two FKFPL clubs that have approached me as well as another club outside the country.
