Gor eager to close on the gap with Homeboyz as they host Bidco

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will be seeking to move three points within the reach of Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) leaders Kakamega Homeboyz when they lock horns with Bidco United on Wednesday at the Kasarani Stadium.Gor who have regained their winning mojo this year having won two matches in a row, a run that has put them just six points behind the high flying Homeboyz.Prior to the back to back wins against FC Talanta and Mathare United, Gor had gone for four matches without a win and thus, the gap between them and the top three teams had significantly widened. However, the six points have placed them in a position to catch up with Homeboyz should they fry Bidco and win their match in hand. Homeboyz will play Nairobi City Stars on Thursday. UPDATE!The venue for Wednesday’s #FKFPL clash between @FC_Sofapaka and @k_sharksfc changes from Wundanyi to Utalii Ground.Kick off time remains unchanged. pic.twitter.com/uwqWrKy3b6— FKFcaretaker (@FKFcaretaker) January 18, 2022 Ahead of the Bidco duel, coach Mark Harrison has come out to admit that he has done his homework well as he understands how their opponents play and their strengths. The Englishman likened Bidco’s style of play to that of FC Talanta who are direct and are a penchant for long balls and lethal on the flanks.”I am expecting yet another tough encounter but luckily, we have analysed how Bidco play. Their style of play is not far from that of Talanta whom we faced a couple of days ago. We have to go out there and express ourselves in a positive way and fight for the three points, “he said.Despite Harrison admitting that he was aware of Bidco’s strengths and weaknesses, he lamented on the absence of a handful of players who have deserted club duties.”It is unfortunate that I have had to work with a lean squad after some players ghosted the club under unclear circumstances. Of course, I would have wished to have them here but I will work with the available ones,” he rued. While Gor will be aiming at closing in on Homeboyz, Bidco will be hoping to get back to winning ways following their one-all draw against Sofapaka last weekend. They will also be looking to beat Gor for the first time in the top flight as they lost in the previous encounter and had recorded a 1-1 draw in last season’s first leg.
