Akhulia challenges Gichimu to work his way back to the first team

Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia has challenged Erick Gichimu to fight for his place in the starting team after returning to the Thika based outfit. Akhulia gave the forward a second chance after acquiring his services in the ongoing transfer from Wazito where he struggled for game time owing to the competition in the club.Gichimu had ditched Bidco last year for Wazito but his stay at the Ricardo Badoer owned side was short-lived as he left barely half a season for a return to the manufacturers. Akhulia said the goal poacher who was the club’s top scorer last season stands a chance of walking back to the starting team should he prove it in training.“His return is good considering that we have not been scoring enough. However, he has to work his way back to the starting team and for the chance to play regularly,” he said. The former Mwiki United marked his return to the club in their 1-1 draw with Gor Mahia on Wednesday at Kasarani Stadium where he came in the second half.Meanwhile, Akhulia will be glad to have Emmanuel Mogaka back in training ahead of their home match against Gor this weekend. The playmaker has been unlucky with injuries in recent times had been sidelined for three weeks after hurting his knee but he has says he will be in contention for playing time against Gor.Bidco will be looking to beat the record Kenyan champions for the first time since their promotion to the top flight. Akhulia’s charges came close to taking three points from Gor on Wednesday but conceded a late penalty that was dispatched by Samuel Onyango to force a share of spoils.
