Bernard Kitolo-coached Zetech Sparks came from behind three times to win 4-3 in a seven goal thriller Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) game against newbies Kangemi Ladies. Lapses in goalkeeping, were again, at the centre of the varsity side struggling to beat the winless Kangemi as they conceded easy goals from attempts made from yards off. Kangemi opened the scoring in the seventh minute, taking advantage of Sparks’ custodian Consolata Wanjiku’s height to place the ball high above her for the opener. Elizabeth Kisa leveled the score for Kitolo’s side on the 13th minute but again, Kangemi found a way to beat the varsity side’s traps to go ahead again as the match headed to the breather with the students trailing 2-1. @FKF_WPL results for the day. Akoth was at it again, drawing her side level at 3-3.Puren Anyetu then powered Kitolo’s charges to victory for the hard fought maximum points. “I have a good keeper in Wanjiku but her height is her main undoing. Kangemi read that about her early on and made full use of their advantage, scoring mostly from far off shots aimed at the goal’s roof, out of our custodian’s reach. It is a problem I am trying to address and soon enough we will be unstoppable. I believe I have one of the best squads in the league,” said Kitolo. The win, their second of the season since beating Kisumu All Starlets 6-2, takes the side to seventh place at seven points, one behind Ulinzi Starlets who have a match on Sunday. “We are elated for the three points and are hoping to build on this momentum going forward. No team is easy in the league and we have to be prepared for each encounter,” Kitolo said adding that the next team that faces Kangemi is likely to have a tougher time as seven players from the squad that helped Kangemi gain promotion, and who had not been part of the squad in the first five rounds, are back with the team. Meanwhile, Kisumu All Starlets picked their second win of the season after stunning Bunyore Starlets by a solitary goal to revive hopes of leaving the relegation zone. Elsewhere Carolyne Khaemba’s brace against visiting Kayole handed Wadadia FC their third victory in six matches. Trans Nzoia Falcons, on their part, were held to a goalless draw at home by Nakuru Queens.
