Gin upbeat Nzoia Sugar will not be relegated

Nzoia Sugar’s former captain Peter Gin Juma is upbeat that the side will avoid the chop at the end of the season despite being in the relegation zone as the campaign enters into the second leg.Gin recently retired from active football and took up the trainer role at the club he has served for a decade through ups and downs and is confident they will overturn the performance to survive.Speaking after his side threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with FC Talanta at Ruaraka Grounds, Gin said that their focus as a team is to continue playing in the top flight and are not ready to drop to the National Super League.Against Talanta, Nzoia took a 2-0 lead at halftime but squandered the advantage with defensive lapses in the second half to go back home with just a point .”Nzoia is one of the teams playing good football in the league and it has young players who are giving their all but we are missing a lot of chances. As a team we are not ready to go down to the NSL, all our focus is on remaining in the premier league despite being where we are on the log,” the player-turned trainer said. The Nzoia Sugar legend, rightfully to call him so, rued lack of communication in the team’s backline and lack of aggression for the strikers in the match but noted that they would be fixing that before their next match.”We will work on our defending and the aggression of our attackers so that they can finish off the chances we get. Communication in our backline was also not good but we will polish on that too and we will be ready for the next game,” he added. As host of FKF Premier League clubs are interested in Nzoia Sugar striker Levis Barasa Okello. The striker, who joined the Millers in November has attracted the interest of Bidco United, Leopards, Talanta Sharks and Tusker. He has so far scored five league goals.#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/IWtVe4rvfE— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) January 19, 2022 Up next for the Millers is a tough encounter against current league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz on February 5, 2022, upon the resumption of the league which has taken a two-week break to pave way for the FKF Cup as initially set.
