Kenya Police FC have confirmed the departure of striker John Makwatta to AFC Leopards on loan until the end of the season. The Kenyan international has struggled with form since he joined the law enforcers at the start of the season from Zesco United. He has scored twice this season with both goals coming from the penalty spot. In recent weeks, however, he has found playtime difficult to come by featuring mainly as a late substitute. He has now opted to walk out on Police in search of more playtime. He has joined AFC Leopards, aside he played for between 2019 and 2021 before moving to Zesco United in January 2021. He then terminated his contract with Zesco in July 2021.Police team manager George Maelo has confirmed that they have granted the player his wish to play more by loaning him to AFC Leopards until the end of the season. After signing Musa Mohamed, John Makwata, Duncan Otieno and Clifton Miheso, FKF Premier League newbies, Kenya Police FC are now in talks with Lawrence Juma who earlier today terminated his contract with Sofapaka.#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/7ZZXJjI1X4— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) October 18, 2021 “We can confirm that John Makwatta has joined AFC Leopards on loan until the end of the season. As you know he has not been playing much here and he requested that we let him move back to Leopards for frequent playtime. We have granted him his wish and he will be with Leopards until the end of the season. I think it was only fair that we let him go there on loan because players want to play week in week out and when you cannot guarantee them that then there is no point of keeping them,” he stated. His move back to Leopards is a big boost for Ingwe who have been struggling to convert the many chances that they create. Coach Patrick Aussems had in an earlier interview stated that they will prioritize the signing of strikers in this window as they have been struggling to make the many chances that they create count.
