Perennial discard Mavididi on the way back to Premier League’s bright lights

Although he was on the books of Arsenal and Juventus, Stephy Mavididi never got beyond playing for the reserve sides. But now, after some eye-catching performances for Montpellier, Steven Gerrard wants to give him another chance back in his native England.This 23-year-old forward has had a curious career path. He never broke into the first team, but his talent was enough for Italian giants to come calling three years later. Juventus picked up the youngster and put him in their reserve team.After failing to break into the Old Lady’s first team, Mavididi was loaned out to Dijon in France for the 2019/20 season. He’s done well enough in Ligue 1 to warrant a permanent $7 million transfer to Montpellier in June 2020.
