Gor Mahia official blames toxic dressing room for club woes

Gor Mahia Secretary-General Sam Ochola has lifted the lid on issues that are affecting the team leading to the poor run that is being witnessed at the moment.Gor Mahia’s woes were compounded on Wednesday when they were condemned to their heaviest league defeat in recent years by Posta Rangers. The Mail-men put three past the record league champions inside the first 35 minutes as they threatened to maul Mark Harrison’s charges. Gor however managed to redeem themselves and prevented Stanley Okumbi’s men from causing further damage.Poor performance is now becoming synonymous with the league giants. Much of it has been attributed to the team’s financial struggles. Coach Harrison has admitted that some players have been staying away from training making preparation of matches a tough task. For Ochola however, there are underlying issues within the technical bench and playing unit that are plaguing the team. He pointed out that there is victimization within the team that has led to the likes of Benson Omalla and Boniface Oluoch staying away from the team.FULL TIME | Posta 3 – 0 Gor Mahia Tough one but we accept and move on with focus on doing better in our next assignment. #Sirkal | #Betsafe— GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) January 26, 2022 “There is a lot of victimization in the squad which has led to the exit of good players like Benson Omalla and even experienced goalkeeper like Boniface Oluoch. The financial issues cut across all the clubs in the league and not Gor Mahia alone. The coach and the technical bench have to leave at all costs,” he told the Daily Nation.Ochola further revealed that they will soon be sending home the entire technical bench. He does not believe that the team’s poor run is down to financial issues.”Financial issues can’t be used as an excuse for poor results. These were the same players who helped the club top the league at the start of the season. The technical bench’s goose is already cooked and they will be fired as early as Thursday,” he added.Next for Gor is a return leg match against Posta Rangers.
