After players boycotted training due to salary arrears, AFC Leopards has notified all its playing staff of a Ksh5,000 fine per day for failing to turn up for training. According to reports Ingwe players down their tools and failed to show up for training after their 2-1 win over Mathare United last Sunday.👀 pic.twitter.com/e17QIFrdpP— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) January 26, 2022 A memo dated Thursday 27 January from the club’s National Executive Committee notified players of a Ksh5,000 deduction per day for boycotting training. “With due respect, this is to inform you that the salary for January 2022 will be reduced by Kes 5.000 per day for the two days you’ve missed thus far. Even though we understand the concern, we have no objections to reasonable informed absences that are acceptable. Above all, our playing unit is an asset to the Club and Instances of unapproved absence have a negative impact on performance and organizational objectives. We sincerely hope that this unfortunate situation does not occur again. Thank you for your cooperation In this matter,” read a letter from AFC Leopards. An AFC Leopards player who sought anonymity confirmed that the club sent the memo to every player adding that the club is yet to settle some of their dues dating back to 2020.The player claimed that the club owes them dues of close to four months in the year 2021, six months for 2020 with Ingwe failing to heed their promises of clearing the arrears.
