Third-placed Trans Nzoia Falcons take on Ulinzi Starlets in round seven of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) with victory cementing their third place for the week. The Justin Okiring-led Falcons are coming off a barren draw against Nakuru Queens and are out to bag their fifth win in seven matches and deny the soldiers a chance to go third. The tactician says missing some players in their midfield led to the draw against Nakuru, but was quick to note they have a full house against Ulinzi. “Some of the players who are still in school were held up and could not feature in the Nakuru match. This is unchartered waters for us as we have not played Ulinzi before. However, I had the opportunity to watch them play against Wadadia in Mumias and we know what to expect from them,” said Okiring. Falcons have only lost one match this season, against three-time champions Vihiga Queens. The side is also enjoying the services of Violet Wanyonyi who featured for the latter in the CAF Women’s Champions League. Her move to Vihiga did not fall through after the conclusion of the continental showpiece. On their part, the Joseph Mwanza-coached military side have an opportunity to go top three on the log as a win takes them to 14 points, assuring them of at least a third place as the top two teams are also in action. Ulinzi are looking to build on the winning momentum as they are coming off a 1-0 victory against league champions Thika Queens.
